Steroids are wrong?

I personally don't completely understand the backlash against people who used steroids in baseball. Case in point: Mark McGwire. He, Sammy Sosa, and Cal Ripken are the people who are generally credited with "saving" baseball after many fans stopped coming to games because of the strike. And now people feel betrayed and won't vote him into the hall of fame? Anyone making money from baseball shouldn't take this stance.

The main reason for this is this: I think everyone I know would take steroids for millions of dollars. Yes, it's wrong. Yes, there are plenty of health risks. But I would harm my own body for millions of dollars, and most people would too. And how wrong can you feel when you could probably shoot up right in front of the owner/manager/any member of the staff and they wouldn't say anything other than: "Do you HAVE to do that in front of me?"

So now people are looking down on other people who did something that most people would do given the same situation. Doesn't seem right to me. Unless you're the rare, rare person who will do whatever they think is right under every circumstance. If so, please introduce yourself to me, because I want to meet such a person.

3 to 2.

Three times a week has quickly changed to twice a week, mostly due to the fact that I can't remember what day it is.

And I can still cheat....

New Pain.

The theory is that pets, particularly cats, do not understand death in the same way that we do. More specifically, they do not understand their own death. They certainly know how to kill other things!

Ahem...anyway faithful cat owners know that cats typically die far, far away from home. The theory is they don't understand the new pain that is hurting them, and seek to run away from it. Pain is caused by something, run away from what's hurting you. Simple.

You may call it a yearning, but getting people to move to a new place, physically and metaphorically, requires new pain.

Hey all loyal viewers!

So starting last Monday I'm going to attempt to write SOMETHING every Mon/Wed/Fri. Or, as it's turning out, every Tue/Thu/Sat morning. So far it's going well, I think this will keep my brain more active and healthy!

Of course, sometimes I'll cheat a little on a post...

Inevitability

No matter what you do, there will always be someone who will achieve just as much (or more) with less work.

It's a good idea to sort out how you're going to feel about that.

And if you are that guy....you should know how others will feel.

More important days.

Everyone knows that your birthday is the most important day of the year for you. I mean, it's YOUR day. Not that you really chose it or anything. It was kind of defaulted to you. Makes you wonder why it sucks to have YOUR day be Christmas. I mean, that seems kind of special, doesn't it? Unless maybe you're Jewish. But then you get a reason to celebrate with the majority.

But that's beside the point. Everyone also knows that the most packed day for Christmas-oriented religion's mass is on Christmas or Christmas Eve. I'm not really sure which one it is. I'll guess Christmas. I think the reasoning is that you get bonus points that day. It's someone's birthday!

I guess Christmas works as a once-a-year affair, even though it's supposed to represent the entire year. Perhaps the consequences need to be more dire?

And why does the sun get no love?

The Word.

Say there is a word that offends everything you're about. What do you do about it?

Can you embrace it and make it your own? Perhaps, but it's kinda like taking shit and then renaming it. For everyone else, you're embracing their shit.

Can you ignore it? Sure. But it won't stop people from saying it.

Fight back? The effectiveness of this depends on how good you are at fighting. But in any case it's usually not good to have a negative reaction to something other people do, especially if they do it to get a reaction.

Truly, words are a weapon far unrecognized yet widely used.

I'm back, baby!

After thinking this page got erased I found out it wasn't. So I'll have to update it again.

Don't have much to say other than that right now. I guess I'll comment on college sports. I don't really like college sports, but I can't really see why people argue that Michigan should get another shot at Ohio State for the national championship.

Unless you're from the Michigan area. Then I can understand.

Anyway, let's examine both scenerios. Say Michigan wins. They're national champs. But they're really just 1-1 against Ohio State, not exactly clear champions. It's kind of like "why have a regular season?"

Say Michigan loses. Yeah, of course they lost. That's what happened last time. Why didn't we give someone else a chance at this?

But yeah, I don't really like college sports.

Answer the interesting question.

At the end of every "Inside the Actors Studio" they always ask a set of questions and one of the questions is "What sound do you hate the most?" or something like that. A seeemingly common answer to that is "A child crying."

To me that answer is kind of cheesy and I can't help but think that whoever answers that will eventually have very spoiled children. But that's not the point. It's good to think about and answer questions such as these, so I'll give it a try. I hate the sound of anything stupid that's brought about by obvious prejudice. And the bad kind of prejudice, not the good kind.

Yes there is good prejudice. There's also a good side to things like torture, rape, and murder. Finding the good side isn't always easy. Do they teach this?

Take an acting class.

No, seriously. I don't care if you're too shy or think you'll never be able to act. We all put on masks and act out different versions of ourselves when placed in different situations yada yada and so on.

The short of it is acting helps you relate to other people because you learn how to sympathize and understand what the character you're playing is thinking. This in turn is good for dealing with people, because while you may not be able to fully understand you can at least be more open to thinking differently. This means you can sympathize with people who aren't you.

With this in mind, I think acting classes should be REQUIRED in school.

I mean, have you seen what teachers (at least good ones) have to learn in order to teach in this country? Lots and lots of studies on multiculturalism as well as different degrees of psychology and sociology. The reason is that any given class can have a myriad of cultures mixed into it, which means several different ways of thinking based on culture. You don't want any child left behind, especially if they're making an effort. But some things are impossible to learn without learning culture.

So if the teachers have to make that kind of effort (at least the good ones) then I think students should be required to make that kind of effort too. If teachers need it to teach, then students need it for group projects as well as simply getting along with each other. And obviously, this will help them out later wherever they live, unless they can find a place where everyone is just like themselves.

Ah, yes, man.

The only creature with the ability (and willingness) to exaggerate or degrade it's own significance.

Liars!

OKay, assume there's a god and that he's all-powerful.

Can God lie?

I mean, he wouldn't need to, but would he even have the power to? What could he say that he couldn't do?

And if he can lie, would he lie and what about?

More on this as it comes in.

Pure logic.

Yes of course women devour men's souls.

Where else do they get the souls they give to their babies?

You probably needed to be there for the entire conversation.

Gay sex is a sin?

I don't think I'll ever be able to fully understand the hatred against gay people.

I mean, okay. You think gay sex is a sin. But there isn't anything in the Bible about gay sex being a sin, as far as I know. But I also hear that all sex is a sin, at least out of wedlock. So banning gay marriage is forcing people to sin. That isn't nice!

And why don't people let God do things for himself? If people keep doing things for him, he's going to get lazy.

Finally, the holiest of holy people is (as far as I can tell) expected to abstain from sex. Apparently there used to be married Popes, but not anymore. Anyway, what if the Pope were the gayest one of all? It wouldn't matter in the slightest, would it?

And no jokes about how the Pope might be gay because of that hat and the weird little car and other things like that. Show some class, people!

(And does the Pope really need a bulletproof car? I mean, gosh!)
